The SLPP and its trade union affiliates need to modernize by coming out of traditional political mentality and by correcting its past mistakes, said MP Namal Rajapaksa.

Following a party meeting, he told the media that his party never changed its policies and ideology for political gain.

Referring to the criticism of the online safety act, he said he was sorry to see that most party leaders still had the age-old political thinking of changing everything a president had done.

Rajapaksa called for the formation of new parties and invited youths to enter politics.

He extended his best wishes to the newly-formed political alliances.
