Strong public opposition forced state minister Sanath Nishantha to turn back from a meeting on road development at Daluwa in Puttalam yesterday (19).
Nishantha and MP Amal Mayadunne were due to participate in the project to carpet the Nirmalapura-Navakkadu road with World Bank assistance.
However, people objected to involvement by politicians, and only discussed with state officials at a gathering at the Catholic church at Daluwa.
They alleged that no politician looked into their plight after their village was flooded.
