Public security minister Tiran Alles has refused to consider a UN Human Rights Council letter that alleges human rights violations during ‘Yukthiya’ operation.

Speaking to the media, he said the UN body was making allegations without making inquiries.

Alles said he told a top UN official to first inquire from the government before issuing statements of that nature.

According to him, one-month of the operation has resulted in a 17 per cent decline in crime.

Also speaking here, acting IPG Deshabandu Tennakoon said that CCTV footage will be used from 22 January to nab errant drivers in Colombo city.
