Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has accused president Ranil Wickremesinghe of using state officials in a failed attempt to lure SJB MPs.

The MPs turned down an invitation to join the president in his Uganda tour extended to them by officials of the Presidential Secretariat and parliament, Premadasa claimed.

He was giving a speech after donating smart classroom equipment worth Rs. one million to Sri Pannananda Vidyalaya in Madapatha, Kesbewa.

Speaking further, the opposition leader charged the president was making use of Rs. 200 million of taxpayers’ money on foreign tours when the people of the bankrupt country were forced to go hungry.

Children should be told about the nature of the country’s leaders in order to empower them with knowledge and that is not talking politics, he said.

Premadasa added that outdated education has violated the human rights of the children.
