President Ranil Wickremesinghe has come under fire by opposition leader Sajith Premadasa over his ongoing foreign trip when the nation’s health service is at a standstill.

He was speaking at a handover of smart classroom equipment and dictionaries to Sirimapura Maha Vidyalaya in Kalawewa on 16 January.

Premadasa also charged that the president has got another Rs. 200 million approved through a supplementary estimate for his foreign trips.

However, the president finds excuses of not having enough funds to meet demands of health workers, he noted.

Instead of criticizing health trade unions and going on foreign trips, he should take steps to uplift the health service, the opposition leader added.
