A teacher has been arrested by the Police in connection with the leaking of the Agriculture Science II examination question paper (all mediums) of the GCE Advanced Level Examination 2023 (2024) online.
He has been remanded until January 26 after been produced in the Ampara Magistrate’s Court.
The 52-year-old male suspect is a teacher at Ampara D.S. Senanayake Vidyalaya.
A resident of Vijithapura, Ampara, the suspect who also conducts private tuitions was arrested on Saturday (13) by the officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Ampara.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that the suspect had copied the questions and posted them online as possible questions that could appear in the A/L paper and even the paper on which the said teacher copied the questions was found by the officers of the CID.
Following revelations that the paper has been leaked, the Examinations Department decided to cancel the Agriculture Science II question paper and to hold a fresh examination in due course.
The fresh examination will be held after the completion of the ongoing Advanced Level Examination and the date for the rescheduled question paper would be notified later by the Examinations Department.
