Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has accused the country’s rulers of having placed a bomb at All Saints Church at Borella two years ago.
Their aim was to scare off the struggle for justice for victims of the Easter Sunday attacks, he claimed.
A church worker and three others were arrested separately over the grenade’s finding, but were released later.
A mass and a silent protest took place at All Saints Church this morning (14), where the Cardinal said no proper investigation took place into the incident.
Fortunately, the grenade did not go off, he said.
Lies were told and although the culprit was clearly shown by CCTV footage, he was not arrested by the police.
They wanted justice over the incident even two years later, through a fair investigation, added the cardinal.
