Incumbent Ranil Wickremesinghe’s campaign for the next presidential election has been decided to be launched at regional level, according to reliable sources.
Further, several SJB MPs have agreed to support him at the polls, said the sources.
A closed-door meeting in this regard took place on 08 January at a luxury apartment complex in Colombo.
It was attended by 17 MPs from the SLFP, SLPP and its independents and the SJB, with their identities decided to be kept a secret.
The two SJB MPs present were told to remain in the party until the election announcement is made.
