The Nava Sama Samaja Party (NSSP) marked its 46th anniversary on 30 December under the theme of an autonomy based socioeconomic development path.
The event at the government clerical services union auditorium in Colombo took the form of a dialogue on a socioeconomic transformation for true economic upliftment.
Guest speakers on the occasion were well-known writer Gamini Viyangoda and lawyer Namal Rajapakse.
It was stressed on the occasion that a primary requirement for economic upliftment was vesting different communities with self-determination rights for their respective civil administration, development and all other socioeconomic activities.
Issues in agriculture, fisheries, law’s failure in dealing with the manipulation of resources by middlemen, politicians and bureaucrats etc. also came under discussion.
