Thousands of children have been denied admission to popular schools due to frauds committed by principals, teachers and past pupils associations.
Schools have now concluded their interviews to enroll students to grade one in 2024.
There have been instances of fraud by manipulating a shortcoming in the 29/2023 circular, with Royal College, Colombo allegedly being the main culprit.
Among the other schools involved are Ananda, Nalanda, D.S. Senanayake, Visaka and Sirimavo Bandaranaike colleges.
This shortcoming pertains to the eligibility for admission on account of applicants who reside nearest to the respective school.
Most rejected applicants do not get to know the reason for the rejection and resort to other options such as migrating to another country.
