A 35-year-old woman has reportedly committed suicide by consuming poison after feeding poison to her two sons and daughter at Kahantota in Malabe, police said.
The woman’s two sons and the daughter are aged 09, 08 and 07 years respectively, according to police.
The four bodies were discovered this morning inside their home in Kahantota, Malabe.
Police said that the husband of the deceased woman had committed suicide a few days ago, and his final rites were performed on Saturday (Dec. 30).
However, police suspect that the woman had committed murder-suicide along with her three children last night due to the grief from that.
The three children had died before being admitted to the hospital, while the mother was pronounced dead after being admitted to the Dr. Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital in Malabe.
