Thirty drug and underworld kingpins operating from overseas will be arrested and brought home, said public security minister Tiran Alles.
According to him, 29 of them are in Dubai and another in France, for whom arrest warrants have been obtained.
Talks are ongoing with those two countries for their deportation, said Alles at the opening of ‘Sathutu Pavula’ educational and trade fair at Kirindiwela.
The minister vowed that the underworld and drugs would be eliminated within the next six months despite any attempts at disruption.
Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, state minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna, MPs Milan Jayatilake, Sumith Udukumbura, Tissa Kuttiarachchi, Kumarasiri Ratnayake, Rajika Wickramasinghe, Manjula Dissanayake and Muditha Prasanthi were also present.
