MP Charitha Herath says Dhamma school education could help balance things in the lopsided education system.
He was speaking at the annual prize giving of Dhamaraja Dhamma School in Katugampola.
Prof. Herath noted with concern that 14 per cent of students had failed the Buddhism subject at the GCE ordinary level examination.
It should be looked into if it was due to an issue in the curriculum, teacher training or something else, he said.
The MP also said that without confining education to gaining knowledge, it should also cultivate skills and attitudes.
For that, Dhamma school education could help in a big way, he added.
