The treasury has decided to curtail expenses for parliamentary staff in view of the present economic situation.
Accordingly, the permits issued to them for free travelling in SLTB buses will be canceled from next year.
It has been in force since 1981.
The annual expense thus saved is estimated at Rs. 80 million.
In the meantime, SLTB will continue deploying the nine buses that
transport staff to and from parliament at present.
