The state-owned Sewanagala and Pelwatte sugar companies have contributed Rs. 1.24 billion to the treasury.
State minister Dilum Amunugama has handed over a cheque for the contribution to president Ranil Wickremesinghe and the treasury secretary.
Sri Lanka Sugar Company chairman Sarada Samarakoon too, was present.
This meets the criteria needed for the payment of bonuses for employees of the two companies.
