Local banks had taken over and auctioned 1,183 small and medium enterprises under the parate law within the past 11 months, said NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
He told parliament yesterday (13) that these entrepreneurs, who depended on bank loans for survival, had lost their businesses due to the wrong policies of successive governments.
“We have had cowards as leaders. Therefore, an awakening of the country did not happen. Leaders of Thailand, India, Korea were able to awaken the people,” he said.
“If the country is to be build, the nation should be uplifted. A group capable of doing that should be elected to power,” said Dissanayake.
