Eng. Athula Galketiya assumed duties as the Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd. (AASL) on 11 December.
He is a distinguished alumnus of the University of Peradeniya. Galketiya earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering in 1987.
Boasting an illustrious career spanning over 34 years in both engineering and management, he holds the esteemed titles of Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka and Chartered Engineer since 1991.
Eng. Galketiya’s extensive experience in the engineering construction realm extends beyond Sri Lanka, with notable contributions internationally.
His notable roles include being the inaugural CEO of Central Engineering Services Ltd. in 2011, the construction arm of the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau.
He also worked as the Team Leader of the Jointly Appointed Employers Quality Representative (JAEQR) for the Project Infrastructure and Landscaping Development of Colombo Port City from 2021 October to 2022 August.
He became the 10th Chairman of the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau and Central Engineering Services Ltd. in August 2022. His appointment as Vice Chairman of AASL in August 2023 further underscores his leadership capabilities.
AASL Board of Directors and other senior officials of AASL were present at the occasion.
