There is an invisible hand behind the removal of Roshan Ranasinghe from the Cabinet, Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa said.

“We in the Opposition vehemently condemn the removal of the Sports Minister at a time when he was cleaning and rescuing Sri Lanka’s cricket from the corrupt,” Premadasa said in a special statement.

“Cricket which is loved by the entire population is hit by corruption. People did not expect a corrupt administration after removing former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa from power. Imperialists have invaded Sri Lanka’s cricket. No one can condone the interference from the President and some Cabinet Ministers on the exercise carried out by Ranasinghe to clean Sri Lanka’s cricket.” he said.

“We suspect that an invisible hand is behind the removal of Rishan Ranasinghe from the Cabinet. All MPs have to back Ranasingne now that there is a danger to his life,” Premadasa added.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Eran Wickramaratne who commented on the issue said a system change is needed to restore Sri Lanka’s cricket.

“What is needed now is not a change of heads to administer sports in Sri Lanka but a system change,” he said.
