Certain media has reported that former environment minister Naseer Ahamed has taken home the two luxury jeeps worth nearly Rs. 200 million issued to him during his ministerial tenure.

About two months ago, Ahamed lost his position as a minister as well as his position as an MP based on an order given by the Supreme Court.

The Environment Ministry has filed a complaint with the Mirihana Special Crime Investigation Unit regarding the non-handover of the two jeeps.

Two vehicles returned to Presidential Secretariat

The former minister returned the two luxury jeeps bearing numbers CAS-9010 and CAO 4118 to the Presidential Secretariat on 08 November, said a senior official there.

The two vehicles are presently being deployed for essential services, said the official.
