In a parliamentary session today, Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles, reported that the investigation into the Easter terror attack is nearing completion, with approximately ninety percent progress.

However, he noted that His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith appears to downplay the urgency of resolving the matter.

The minister disclosed that 23 individuals allegedly involved in the Easter bombings remain in custody pending further investigation.

Furthermore, Cardinal Ranjith allegedly pressured the current Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Sabry, against appointing him to a ministerial position based on religious grounds.

The Cardinal reportedly asserted that Sabry, being a Muslim, should not hold such a post. Additionally, there are claims that the Cardinal kept issuing letters to authorities accusing several Buddhist officers and linking them to the Easter attack.

Minister Alles expressed concern that these selective actions might be fueling racial and religious tensions.

Addressing the issue, the minister revealed that all reports from the presidential investigation were provided to the Cardinal. However, when requested to allocate time for updates on the ongoing investigations, the Cardinal evaded, citing the extensive length of the reports still under examination.
