Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has asked as to why those who had masterminded the human immunoglobulin vaccine scam were yet to be arrested.
The big fish remain free, while the small fry get arrested, he charged in parliament yesterday (22), noting the claim that the key figure in the fraud was a cabinet minister.
The owner and a director of Isolez biotech pharma AG Ltd., the company that faked documents and supplied 22,500 vials of vaccine to state hospitals, are in remand custody.
So are the director and three other officers of the Medical Supplies Division.
Use of the vaccine had been suspended after patients administered with it developed complications.
