A complaint has been lodged with regard to a sum of nearly Rs. 290 million given by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to the Sports Ministry to uplift sports.

SLC president Shammi Silva told the media on 11 November that they did not receive any records of how the money was spent.

A few days later, sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe, while refuting the allegation, issued what he claimed all related expenditure reports to both the SLC and the media.

The complaint made today (21) by Darshana Handungoda and other civil society activists said those reports contained expenditures for projects carried out in 2021 and 2022, long before Ranasinghe was appointed the sports minister, and were unacceptable.
