SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa asked in parliament yesterday (20) if a state policy could be challenged in court.

Quoting from clause 29 of the constitution, he posed the question to MP Prof. G.L. Peiris in reference to the Supreme Court verdict that found the Rajapaksas had mismanaged the economic crisis.

MP Rajapaksa claimed the proposal in question had been approved by the cabinet and debated and unanimously adopted by parliament.

Speaking further, he said the budget for 2024 contained several impractical proposals, questioning if the same ones were repeated from the previous budget.

The budget has nothing beyond raising taxes, domestic borrowings and privatizing state entities, Rajapaksa charged.
