Around 5,000 incidents of crime against children are reported each year, said senior DIG in charge of western province Deshabandu Tennakoon.
Most of these incidents are related to drugs and mobile phone use, he said.
Any attempt at curbing those needs parental regulation of mobile phone use by children, said Tennakoon.
