Senior DIG in charge of western province Deshabandu Tennakoon has responded to social media claims that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had contracted him for a secret consultancy role in 2021.
Tennakoon said he declined to accept the job.
Senior journalist Ranga Srilal had reported that the SLC had contracted SDIG Tennekoon for a secret consultancy role.
In a clarification, he refuted the reports and said he had never accepted financial or any other privilege from SLC.
Tennakoon said he received a letter from SLC on 07 August 2021 saying that he had been recruited for a consultancy job, about which he informed the then public security ministry secretary Jagath Alwis.
Responding, Alwis informed him not to accept it, and he declined the job by letter dated 05 November to SLC’s president, said the SDIG.
