Residents of certain housing complexes in Colombo have welcomed the budget proposal to hand them ownership of their houses.
They celebrated the news by lighting firecrackers and playing ‘Raban’.
Delivering his budget speech for 2024, president Ranil Wickremesinghe proposed to transfer the ownership of house houses rented to nearly 50,000 urban and estate families within the year.
