Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has described budget 2024 as a flop and an attempt to deceive the masses.
In his budget speech, the president spoke about a hell, but he showed the heaven for the rulers, Premadasa told journalists.
He started it with quotes from the teachings of Lord Buddha in an insult to Buddhism, the opposition leader charged.
Before talking about the next steps, it should have mentioned how much of the previous year’s promises were met, but that was not the case because most of them had not been fulfilled, he said.
The opposition leader added that he would describe his clear options for the budget proposals later on, during the debate.
