Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has called for a united effort by the entire nation against family rule and cronyism in the same manner parliament got together to protect cricket.

He was speaking to a group of social media activists at his office in Colombo yesterday (11).

Noting espncricinfo.com website’s claim that Sri Lanka Cricket itself was behind the country’s international suspension, Premadasa said the game’s administration is filled with traitors and subverts.

Responding to SLC’s assertion to the ICC that it is a victim of political meddling, the opposition leader questioned if the SLC could freely engage in fraud, corruption and other malpractices.

Sports minister laments lack of support

Meanwhile, sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe told the media yesterday that he would work according to the aspirations of the public.

The next course of action with regard to the matter of cricket would be taken as per their wishes, he said.

Ranasinghe lamented a lack of support for him, not from the government but from someplace else.

He vowed not to give up and continue with the fight by employing private lawyers if he was forced to leave the ministry.
