Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will incur a 50 million US dollar loss for next year due to its suspension by the ICC, said SLC president Shammi Silva.

He told journalists yesterday (11) that he would go to the ICC on the 21st before which he would speak to president Ranil Wickremesinghe as well.

Silva claimed the minister was given Rs. 290 million for sports development, but that he had used the money on his friends.

He also said the SLC turned down a written request to give 20 percent of its revenue to the ministry.

Silva said the powers of the minister should be curtailed if sports were to be developed.

Also speaking here, acting secretary of the SLC Krishantha Kapuwatta said they would do their utmost to get the suspension lifted.

He invited the sports ministers to join hands and settle the matter.

Sri Lanka will lose the opportunity to host the under-19 world cup and the planned cricket carnival in January, he added.
