Many properties entrusted to the Public Trustee’s Department have been illegally occupied for many years.
The estimated value of these properties is about Rs. 10,000 million.
The Department does not receive any returns for managing 11 estates and many buildings under its custody.
Public Trustee Gihan Pilapitiya, appointed to the position four months ago, said strong legal action would be taken to ensure his department received its due from these properties.
