Parliament was in uproar this morning (08) after state minister Asoka Priyantha allegedly made insulting remarks against SJB MP Rohini Kumari Wijeratne.

Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa and his MPs demanded action against Priyantha.

It all began when the state minister replied to a question raised by Wijeratne with regard to pensioners.

Claiming that many issues of pensioners have been solved, he questioned her not being satisfied by them, and remarked that he did not know how to satisfy her.

Chief opposition whip Lakshman Kiriella, and MPs Nalin Bandara and Chaminda Wijesiri said that remark was derogatory and demanded the chair acted against it.

Deputy speaker Ajitha Rajapaksa promised to take action and ordered the omission of inappropriate remarks.

A decision will be taken once the speaker takes a look at the relevant audio, he said, to which Kiriella said he should tell the state minister to withdraw his insulting remarks.
