MP Patali Champika Ranawaka has claimed that fake alcohol safety sticker racketeers have told certain media to boycott him.
This comes after his recommendations, as chairman of the House ways and means committee, against wrongdoings by alcohol producers, Ranawaka told parliament yesterday (07).
Almost 99 per cent of the liquor bottles carry fake safety stickers, he said.
He also said a certain newspaper had published an article defamatory of him after he acted against the misuse of electric vehicle import licenses for expatiate workers.
Ranawaka said his committee will meet today to act further with regard to cancelling the licenses of alcohol producers who have not paid excise duties.
