Sri Lankan Sujith Bandara Yatawara was killed in the attack by Hamas militants on Israel last month, it has now been established.

The Interpol branch in Israel made the confirmation by matching DNA samples taken from Yatawara’s children with an unidentified body, which returned positive, said Sri Lankan ambassador Nimal Bandara.

He told BBC Sinhala Service yesterday (03) that Yatawara’s remains will be sent home.

From Wennappuwa, the medical attendant by profession had left for employment in Israel around eight years ago.

He had visited Sri Lanka just once since, said his wife Jayani.

Yatawara is also survived by a daughter aged 13 and a nine-year-old son.
