Mount Lavinia additional magistrate Sanjaya L.M. Wijesinghe has rejected a motion seeking bail for former senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne, who was arrested and remanded for causing an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol.
Seneviratne was ordered to be remanded until 01 November.
After an investigation conducted by the Wellawatta police, the suspect was produced before Mount Lavinia magistrate Kosala Senadheera, and was ordered to be remanded until November 1.
The former SDIG was arrested for causing a collision with multiple vehicles while driving under the influence of alcohol on Saturday night while driving his car from Bambalapitiya towards Dehiwala.
Wellawatta Police, in a B report, said it was confirmed that the former SDIG was intoxicated during a test to detect whether he was under the influence of alcohol.
