Health sector trade unionist Ravi Kumudesh has revealed corrupt deals in the import of nine varieties of medicines.

Quoting from a latest audit report, he said in a statement the import of Frusamide, Trastuzimab, Ceftraixone, Diclofenac Sodium, Etoricoxilo, Cetrizine, Clonazipam, Cefotaxime and Ipratropium were highly questionable.

He blamed the Health Ministry, State Pharmaceuticals Corporation, medical supplies division and the National Medicines Regulatory Authority for these corrupt deals.

Despite the continued exposures of corruption in the health service, no guilty party has so far been brought before the law, Kumudesh noted.

He urged the government to establish a mechanism to ensure punishment via an independent investigation system.
