Heart to Heart International (HHI), a global humanitarian organization focused on improving access to health, has donated another stock of essential medicines worth USD 2.9 million (LKR 985 million) to Sri Lanka.

HHI has obtained all necessary government approvals for the eighth in-kind donation of urgent medical aid under the guidance of Sri Lanka's Ambassador to the United States Mahinda Samarasinghe.

Facilitated by the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Embassy in Washington, D.C., the eighth donation arrived in Colombo on October 26.

The latest donation includes specialized medicines such as ‘Everolimus’ used to treat advanced cancers or noncancerous tumors, such as kidney, pancreas, brain and breast cancer.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Washington, D.C. extended its gratitude to Heart to Heart International for the generous donations made to the people of Sri Lanka.

HHI has borne all expenses, and the donation will be received by the Ministry of Health for immediate distribution at no cost to the people of Sri Lanka.

Since its inception in 1992, HHI has delivered medical aid and supplies worth USD 2.5 billion to more than 130 countries, including within the United States.

HHI responds to natural disasters both domestically and internationally by supplying medical relief and mobilizing volunteers.

The organization is a 4-star Charity Navigator charity, a BBB Accredited charity and is on the "Philanthropy 400."
