Sri Lanka has been able to secure official links with Mexico following 10 years of efforts.
Ambassador in the United States Mahinda Samarasinghe visited Mexico and signed an agreement for socioeconomic, political, human rights and tourism cooperation with deputy foreign minister Carmen Moneno Toscano.
During the talks, Samarasinghe explained Sri Lanka’s economic issues and elaborated on related matters.
Follow up talks will take place in Colombo.
The Sri Lankan ambassador also held talks with Mexico’s director general of human rights Roberto de Lyon.
The island’s development and future targets were discussed during his meeting with senator Hector Vasconsin.
Other official talks focused on investment and businesses, Sri Lankan exports to Mexico etc.
