Keheliya Rambukwella has been given the environment portfolio with the aim of implementing president Ranil Wickremesinghe’s green economic concept, said minister Mahinda Amaraweera.
Rambukwella will have a crucial responsibility in his new ministry, said Amaraweera after assuming duties, in addition to agriculture, in the plantation industries portfolio yesterday (24).
He said bringing both agriculture and plantation industries under one ministry was a timely act.
The two state owned fertilizer companies will be made a single entity within two months, he said, adding the agriculture and agrarian development departments would similarly be made one department.
