Floral tributes were paid and lamps lit yesterday (24) to remember 55 Tamil civilians who were killed by Indian peacekeepers in Jaffna 36 years ago.
The event took place near the entrance to Hindu College in Kokuvil with the participation of relatives of the victims of the attack.
In a retaliatory attack following the killing of colleagues in an LTTE attacks in October 1987, Indian soldiers in tanks entered the school premises and targeted the unarmed men, women and children.
Their bodies were buried in the playground there.
