Workers of a closed garments factory in Hatton have staged a protest demanding their unpaid salaries and bonus payment.
Norwood Fashion (Pvt.) Ltd. that remains closed since August, has not paid salaries for three months from May, according to the protestors.
Gathering in front of the factory on 23 October, around 300 mainly women workers also said a Rs. 20,000 bonus for last year still remained unpaid.
They said they have had no income since the closure of the factory.
According to correspondents, more than 2,000 people have lost their jobs as a result.
The factory is empty except for the security personnel.
Norwood Fashion produces more than two million pieces of clothing per day and has another factory at Polgahawela.
