Incumbent Ranil Wickremesinghe will poll 10 million votes and win the 2024 presidential elections, said UNP chairman Wajira Abeywardena.
Addressing the party convention at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo yesterday (21), he said that as per the constitution, the presidential polls would be followed by parliamentary elections next year.
Early 2025 will see the holding of the provincial council polls, he said.
World leaders much impressed - Sagala
National security advisor and president's chief of staff Sagala Ratnayaka said global leaders were much impressed by the work of Wickremesinghe, a senior among them.
A ‘smart’ leader – Range
Palitha Range Bandara, the UNP general secretary, told the convention that the party had a ‘smart’ leader.
A government led by the UNP will be formed in 2024 by overcoming its serious challenges, he added.
