The United States has turned down requests for visa by ruling politicians Prasanna Ranatunga and Sarath Weerasekara.
Both have been named to attend an UNDP-organized international meeting of parliamentary sectoral oversight committee chairmen.
Parliament has been informed that a court verdict against Ranatunga and war crimes allegations against Weerasekara as the reasons for refusal to grant visa for them.
Ajith Mannapperuma, who has been suspended from parliament for one month, too, will miss this international event.
Gammanpila, Fonseka too rejected
The US has previously refused to allow MPs Sarath Fonseka and Udaya Gammanpila to enter the country.
The latter said that in 2022, he was refused visa to attend an international event in the US.
Based on that, Australia too, has declined to issue visa for him to visit his family domiciled in that country, added Gammanpila.
