Ven. Dr. Ellawala Medhananda Thera has been felicitated in recognition of his services to archaeology with the launch of book ‘Medhanandabhinandana’.
Ex-president Gotabaya Rajapaksa was the chief guest at the event at the National Archives in Colombo yesterday (23) organized by the Buddha Sasana Ministry, Archaeology Department and the conference on national heritages.
Also, a stamp with the prelate’s picture and a first day cover were issued by the Postal Department.
Present on the occasion were Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri, Ven. Vendaruwe Upali, Ven. Ittademaliye Indasara, Ven. Prof. Induragare Dhammaratana, Ven. Prof. Medagoda Abhayatissa, Ven. Prof. Agalakada Sirisumana and Ven. Kirinde Assaji Theras.
Ministers Vidura Wickramanayake and Bandula Gunawardena and defence secretary Kamal Gunaratne were among the laypersons in attendance.
