A two-day adjournment debate begins in parliament today (21) at 9.30 am on the Easter Sunday terror attacks and the present status of national security.

The opposition has proposed the debate in light of the revelations made by UK’s Channel 4 television regarding the attacks.

Heads of law enforcement agencies are expected to witness the debate.

Security has been strengthened in and outside parliament for its duration.

Follow-up action unsatisfactory

SJB MP Tissa Attanayake said follow-up action taken even after three investigations were wholly unsatisfactory.

He was taking part in ‘Unlimited’ programme of Neth FM last night.

Attanayake explained his party’s stand over allegations that the attacks were planned with the intention of gaining power.

MP Dr. Nalaka Godahewa said action should be taken as per the outcomes of the investigations conducted so far.

SLPP MP S.M. Chandrasena alleged the opposition was trying to gain political mileage out of the matter.
