SJB MP Rohini Kaviratne moved a proposal in parliament yesterday (19) for the postponement of the GCE advanced level examination for 2023.

She suggested the exam takes place between 22 January and 17 February next year and the first school term commences on 19 February.

The results could be released by May and next year’s exam could be held in October as usual, said Kaviratne.

In the meantime, a group of students sitting for the exam this year have asked the education minister to put off holding the exam by three months.

The examination is set to start on 27 November, following the delayed release of the results of the previous year’s exam a few days ago.
