Police have arrested the mother and the brother-in-law of the constable who is now in hiding after aiding Nadun Chinthaka alias ‘Harak Kata’ in his failed escape attempt.
The woman fell ill following the arrest and was admitted to Colombo National Hospital.
According to police sources, another PC is to be taken into custody for helping the criminal.
An ASP has been transferred out of the CID following his escape attempt recently.
Both PCs have led luxurious lives and used a Benz car given by Chinthaka to attend an alms giving, said the sources.
Despite various claims that the PC has fled the country, he is said to be still in hiding.
