An information centre has been opened with World Bank assistance for the convenience of those who visit Sinharaja forest via Ratnapura district.
Minister Pavitra Wanniarachchi unveiled the facility at Dorawaka Ella in Kalawana on 09 September.

Sinharaja is a world heritage that spans over 11,187 hectares of forest cover in Galle, Ratnapura and Kalutara districts.
It is the home to 192 endemic flora species, 19 of them very rare and 146 others facing extinction.
Also, it boasts of seven mammal, 25 bird, 21 reptilian, 28 amphibian and 11 fish species found nowhere else in the world.
