Ministers Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara issuing a joint statement yesterday (05) called for the masterminds of the Easter Sunday attack to be arrested and brought before the law.
“Numerous facts about the attack, which resulted from a conspiracy, are now coming to light before the world. These revelations validate the accuracy of our previous statements,” they emphasised.
The Ministers also underscored the necessity for an independent and comprehensive investigation into the incident in the present context.
The pair recalled the numerous threats and accusations they encountered from various quarters, including religious leaders, while they persevered in their quest for the truth.
“St. Paul has stated that if anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. Nature clearly demonstrates that individuals who seize power through crisis manipulation struggle to retain it,” they remarked.
The pair asserted that they had collaborated with President Ranil Wickremesinghe under six conditions, of which he has successfully met five thus far.
“What remains is the apprehension and full legal prosecution of all individuals implicated in the Easter Sunday attack. We have also called for an International investigation and reaffirm this request,” the Ministers added.
They noted it was imperative to arrest and punish the main mastermind of the heinous attack.
