An appeals committee has confirmed the rejection of the nomination by Dacshitha Sumathipala for presidency of Football Sri Lanka.
The Anuradhapura League’s president was one of the five nominations by his camp that got rejected.
Announcing its decision, the appeals committee yesterday (05) decided to accept only the previously rejected nomination by Nalaka Dissanayake for an executive committee member position.
Objections raised against Sumathipala’s rival faction Jaswar Umar were all rejected.
Accordingly, the 29 September FSL election will see 13 candidates from Umar’s camp and nine from the opposing camp.
Also rejected were nominations by T.I. Uduwara for vice president, U. Nihal Perera for executive committee member and P.K.H.M. Ariyaratne for executive committee female member.
