The magistrate’s court in Trincomalee has termed a group as being fundamentalist after it led protests against Boralukanda Buddhist temple at Iluppukulam.

With the police having obtained a prohibition order against protests near the place, agitations have occurred away from the temple area.

On submissions made by Nilaweli police, Trincomalee additional magistrate Darshani Annadurai named three Tamil MPs and 11 others as respondents and issued the order.

Two of them are from Thamil Peravai that has led the protests, which has been described in the court order as a fundamentalist civil organization.
